first week of september

I started school this last week, well we had orientation...that lasted 2 days.
This mostly resulted in a battle between public transit and me, which in turn resulted in me being late to meet most of my department and chair. So, so, so, frustrating and embarrassing. It also means I feel a little bit like I'm cheating on you KC, with another artist community.
We also gave Oakland's first fridays a try. There were fewer galleries than Kansas City, but a larger crowd, and a lot more street stands with t-shirts, food, and jewelry etc. The stuff inside was hit or miss...That is until we saw this dance troop dancing on the side of this building....

The best show was one at the Chandra Cerrito Contemporary featuring, Lawrence LaBianca and Esther Traugot. Both had various sculptures and installations. These were the first we saw and I was really impressed. Unfortunately the rest of the shows didn't really follow their pace..
Good documentation HERE.
